The Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus is set to leave Al Nassr after winning the Saudi Arabian football championship title, the club of his compatriots Cristiano Ronaldo and João Félix confirmed today. “He arrived as a challenger and leaves as a champion. Thank you, Jesus, for everything you gave to your club Al Nassr. You will always be loved and fondly remembered by Al Nassr fans,” read the social media channels of the Riyadh team.
Jorge Jesus had already revealed that he was going to leave the club on May 21, right after winning the title, without revealing what his next step would be.
“It is true that I am not going to continue in Saudi Arabia,” stated Jorge Jesus in declarations to SportTV at the end of the match that guaranteed the title for Al Nassr, revealing that the decision had already been planned since the beginning of the project.
Jesus, who achieved the 24th title of his career, explained that he refused to sign a contract longer than one season when he was approached by the Saudi club, considering that the accumulated physical and emotional exhaustion throughout the season weighed on his decision to leave. “It was a very tough championship, there is a very great amount of wear and tear. I think it was a wonderful year and now I have to go enjoy the other side,” he stated.

Jorge Jesus highlighted the importance of Cristiano Ronaldo in his decision to accept the project: “I told him: I only accept this Nassr project because of you. We are both going to win the championship and you will leave here with a title. That is what happened.” Questioned about the future, the manager admitted that Fenerbahçe is one of the possibilities on the table, revealing that he received proposals from two of the three big Turkish clubs.
“I have a story that I still have to finish perhaps at Fenerbahçe. There has already been an interested party, not just Fenerbahçe, another team from Turkey also made an invitation to me,” he assumed. With today’s achievement, Jorge Jesus, 71 years old, celebrated a Saudi title once again, just as he had previously done for Al Hilal, which he led twice, the last of which was between 2023/24 and 2024/25.
In his nearly 40-year career as a manager, which began in 1989/90 at Amora, Al Nassr was the 16th club that Jorge Jesus managed, in a list highlighted by the big Lisbon clubs Benfica, across two spells (2009-2015 and 2020-2021), and Sporting (2015-2018), and the Brazilian side Flamengo.
Moreover, in nine and a half seasons with the Eagles, he won 10 trophies, all in his first spell, with three championship titles, one Portuguese Cup, one Super Cup, and five League Cups, while with the Lions he won one Super Cup and one League Cup.

In Brazil, during about a year and a half in command of Flamengo between 2019 and 2020, he won one Brazilian championship, one Brazilian Super Cup, one Carioca state championship, one Copa Libertadores, and one South American Super Cup, in addition to reaching the final of the 2019 Club World Cup, lost by the Mengão against Liverpool in extra time (1-0).
The manager’s curriculum also includes spells on the benches of Felgueiras, União da Madeira, Estrela da Amadora, Vitória de Setúbal, Vitória de Guimarães, Moreirense, União de Leiria, Belenenses, Sporting de Braga, and Fenerbahçe.
