Casa Pia defeated Torreense 2-0 today in the second leg of the play-off, securing their stay in the I Liga of football for a sixth season among the top flight, facing the holders of the Portuguese Cup. In Rio Maior, after a 0-0 draw in the first match in Torres Vedras, the Spaniard Larrazabal and the Ghanaian Ofori scored the goals for the Lisbon side at the 38th and 77th minutes, respectively, guaranteeing a fifth consecutive presence in the main tier, which adds to their debut back in 1938/39.
The Lisbon-based team, who finished 16th and third from bottom in the I Liga, triumphed over Torreense, a side that will compete in the league phase of the 2026/27 Europa League thanks to their unprecedented conquest of the Portuguese Cup against Sporting, winning 2-1 after extra time on Sunday.

Torreense was looking to join Marítimo and Académico de Viseu, who preceded them in the II Liga standings, in promotion to the top flight for what would have been their seventh time in the first tier, 34 years later.
The club from Torres Vedras was relegated during their last three spells in the top division, which occurred in the 1991/92, 1964/65, and 1958/59 seasons, with the latter coming after three consecutive appearances.
