Macau’s Chief Executive, Sam Hou Fai, met with a delegation from the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, led by Liu Cigui, to discuss strengthening the integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, during a meeting held on April 15 at the Government Headquarters.
Sam Hou Fai noted that Macau is accelerating its integration into the Greater Bay Area and deepening cooperation with Hengqin, highlighting progress on infrastructure and key projects such as the International Education City and the cargo terminal at Macau International Airport in Hengqin.
He stated that the Government intends to intensify the international promotion of these platforms, to attract more projects and qualified personnel, thereby strengthening Macau’s role in the national development strategy.
He also emphasized that the coordination of rules and mechanisms between Macau and Hengqin has been deepening, creating more favorable conditions for economic diversification and regional integration.

Sam Hou Fai added that the government is committed to creating more opportunities for young people, encouraging the participation of local talent in the development of the Greater Bay Area, and enhancing the territory’s competitiveness.
In turn, Liu Cigui, director of the Liaison Committee for Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, highlighted the strategic importance of the Greater Bay Area and Hengqin within the framework of the 15th National Five-Year Plan.
He noted that President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to Macau’s development and regional integration, pointing out that these initiatives represent new opportunities for the territory’s economic and social growth.
Liu Cigui also stated that the Committee will continue to play an active role in supporting Macau’s participation in the national strategy, promoting new achievements in the development of the Greater Bay Area. The meeting was also attended by officials from the Macau SAR Government and representatives of the national body, who discussed the next steps to deepen cooperation and enhance the region’s joint development.
