Around 250 Sands China team members and local youth attend a sharing session hosted by Sands China Wednesday at The Londoner Macao, about the recent sessions of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Sands China, through its dedicated initiative – Sands China Distinguished Speaker Forum Series – The Spirit of NPC and CPPCC, hosted an informative seminar at The Londoner Macao.

The event, held on March 26, brought together around 250 participants, including management, team members, and local youth, with over 3,000 remote viewers.

The session focused on the Third Session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), emphasizing the nation’s development strategies and the opportunities that arise within the Greater Bay Area.

Wednesday’s sharing session was led by five distinguished guests. It was moderated by Dr. Wilfred Wong (first from left), Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd.

Moderated by Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Dr. Wilfred Wong, the forum featured distinguished speakers such as Lao Ngai Leong, Ho King Lun, Lao Nga Wong, Ip Sio Kai, and Dr. Fanny Vong Chuk Kwan.

They provided detailed insights into the critical messages and proposals emerging from the Two Sessions, including discussions on the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone, proactive fiscal policies, and the “moderately loose” monetary policy designed to boost confidence among investors and foster economic diversification.

Speakers underlined the importance of leveraging Macau’s unique position – “backed by the motherland and connected to the world” – to drive economic growth, enhance international appeal, and promote the successful practice of “One Country, Two Systems.”

Speakers and guests gather with Sands China management before the event on Wednesday.

The seminar also explored strategies to integrate Hengqin with Macau, diversify industries, and internationalize tourist sources.

Additional focus was placed on the role of youth, modernizing tourism education, and boosting community-based as well as industrial-financial economies.

Furthermore, discussions touched on the central government’s economic growth target and the comprehensive support expected for Macau, with initiatives such as co-hosting the National Games by Hong Kong and Macau, reinforcing regional integration in sports and cultural development.

The forum’s analytical approach allowed participants to gain a deep understanding of national development strategies, fully seize the opportunities brought by the country’s development, and leverage and strengthen Macao’s advantages, aligning with Macau’s goal to evolve into a world centre of tourism and leisure.
