Macau could benefit from rising fuel prices

With the cost of overseas travel rising, Macau could become the destination of choice during Golden Week for tourists from Mainland China

Two local tourism associations believe that Macau could benefit from rising fuel prices during Golden Week, as mainland tourists may choose to forgo overseas vacations to save money and instead turn their attention to the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR).

Paul Wong, president of the Macau Leisure Tourism Innovation and Services Association, noted that during Golden Week, local tourism relies primarily on mainland tourists, with the holidays this year falling between May 1 and 5.
