Macau hotels received more than 7.1 million guests in the first half of 2026, down 1.1% year-on-year, also recording an 8.6% annual decline in the month of June, it was announced today.
In the first six months of the year, “hotel establishments hosted 7,127,000 individuals, representing a decrease of 1.1%, in annual terms,” indicated the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) in a statement.
The number of guests from mainland China (5.2 million) and Hong Kong (857,000) both decreased 2.5%, compared to the first half of 2025. International guests (662,000), however, increased 12.3%, with visitors from the Republic of Korea (191,000) standing out, up 13%, over the period under review and in annual terms.
Guests from Thailand (54,000), India (48,000) and the United States (34,000) grew 43.5%, 16.1% and 27.8%, respectively, while arrivals from Japan (45,000) and Malaysia (42,000) fell 5.6% and 6%.

In the first half of the year, the average occupancy rate of guest rooms stood at 90.4%, or up 1.3 percentage points, in annual terms, according to the same statement.
In June, hotel establishments hosted a total of 1,095,000 people, down 8.6% compared to the same month last year, and the average occupancy rate of guest rooms was 85.8%, down 2.6 percentage points, compared to June 2025.
Macau received 20.9 million visitors in the first half of the year, an increase of 9% in annual terms, according to data released this month by the DSEC, which noted that among the visitors who traveled to the territory, more than half (12.9 million) were day-trippers.
