The US military raised the number of service members killed in the ongoing war against Iran to six today, after confirming the deaths of two additional personnel who had been listed as missing.
In a statement, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that “US forces recently recovered the remains of two service members who were missing at a facility struck during Iran’s initial attacks in the region.”
The Pentagon had confirmed the deaths of three service members on Sunday, and earlier today CENTCOM indicated that a fourth soldier, critically wounded during the initial Iranian strikes, had succumbed to their injuries.
US forces emphasized, however, that “major combat operations are continuing” and that the “response effort” remains ongoing.
