Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, the Wimbledon champion in 2023 and 2024, will miss the third Grand Slam tournament of 2026 due to an injury to his right wrist, the world number two announced today. “My recovery is on the right track and I feel much better, but unfortunately, I am not in a position to play and I have to withdraw from the Queen’s and Wimbledon tournaments,” which take place between June 29 and July 12, Alcaraz informed via a social media post.

The 22-year-old Spaniard was defeated in the 2025 final of the London grass-court tournament by Italian player Jannik Sinner, the current leader of the ATP rankings, after having triumphed in the two previous years by beating Serbian Novak Djokovic in the decisive matches.
Alcaraz started the season by winning the Australian Open, but suffered an injury last month during the Barcelona tournament, which had already led him to announce his absence from Roland Garros, the second major of 2026, where he was supposed to defend the titles won over the last two years.
