Sands China honours exemplary team members at the company’s Because We Care Team Member Annual Awards Ceremony 2024 Nov. 29 at The Londoner Macao.
These awards honour individuals and teams who embody the company’s “Because We Care” service philosophy, which promotes creating memorable, attentive, and entertaining experiences for guests, colleagues, clients, and the community.
Since 2013, Sands China has hosted this ceremony to highlight its team members’ dedication to the company’s four cultural values: We Are Friendly, We Are Professional, We Are Active Listeners, and We Are One Team.
This year’s event saw participation from 1,800 team members across 30 departments, who shared workplace stories that inspired mutual recognition and strengthened team cohesion.
Nearly 50,000 votes were cast on the company’s recognition platform, which allowed team members to review stories, express preferences, and endorse nominees.
A committee selected 100 finalists—comprising 326 individuals and teams—from the nominations, who advanced to the final stage.
At the ceremony, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Grant Chum and Executive Vice Chairman Dr. Wilfred Wong personally presented certificates to the top nominees in front of 650 attendees, including department heads and colleagues.
Winners received trophies, cash prizes, and rewards totaling nearly MOP 750,000.
Chum remarked: “These awards recognise team members’ unwavering commitment to our ‘Because We Care’ values. By sharing stories big and small, we foster a culture of mutual appreciation that strengthens belonging and supports our mission to deliver exceptional service to our guests. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees whose efforts exemplify our service excellence.”
This year’s awards recognised 19 individuals and 7 groups for their outstanding contributions, reaffirming Sands China’s commitment to celebrating and fostering a culture of care and excellence within its 27,000-strong team.
