This global event brings nearly 800 elite young fencers aged 6-14 from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, and the United States to compete in 36 events over three days.
Individual events in foil, épée, and sabre for boys’ and girls’ U8, U10, U12, and U14 categories will take place during the first two days, while team events for U10 and U14 categories will conclude the competition on the final day.
The competition aims to promote youth sports development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area while preserving the heritage of fencing.
The fencing pistes at Cotai Expo meet FIE (International Fencing Federation) standards and will feature FIE referees and VAR (Video Assistant Referee) technology during elimination rounds, providing young athletes with an international-level experience.
Adding to the excitement, the Sands Cares Presents: All-Round Fencing Experience community event will further inspire young athletes, as South Korean Olympic silver medallist Yoon Jisu and Hong Kong fencing representative Lam Hin Wai will share their journeys and challenges.
Hong Kong sabre fencers Low Ho Tin and Chan Lok Hei Royce will provide hands-on guidance and recount their experiences, including Chan’s inspiring progression from a young fencer to Hong Kong’s top-ranking sabre athlete.
The Asian Youth Elite Fencing League competition was first held in Hong Kong in 2023 and has quickly become a major youth sporting event.
The organisers hope to develop it into a prominent Asian youth fencing league, fostering talent and expanding the sport’s popularity across the region.
