
GEG recently organized study tours for students of the “Youth Science and Technology Village” program, featuring visits to the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards and Galaxy Macau, helping students gain a deeper understanding of technological applications in tourism and leisure while broadening their horizons in technological innovations.
Since 2023, GEG, together with the Education and Youth Development Bureau and the Macao Science Center, has jointly organized the program, to nurture high-caliber local talent in innovation and technology. As part of the 2025/2026 academic year curriculum, the current tours were designed to help them gain a deeper understanding of technological applications in tourism and leisure while broadening their horizons in technological innovations.
At the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards, students explored various exhibits that integrate digital technology and showcase the history of Macau’s shipbuilding industry. Highlights included interactive 3D touchscreen displays introducing shipbuilding techniques and fisheries, an augmented reality experience recreating the operation of a gantry band saw machine, and a dynamic video presentation powered by artificial intelligence on a large LED screen that reconstructed historic scenes of the shipyards. GEG also invited Mr. Dirco Fong, Multimedia Consultant for the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards revitalization project, to share insights into the technological innovations and practical applications featured in the area.
The students also visited the Diamond Lobby at Galaxy Macau to watch the Diamond Show, that allowed them to witness the large-scale installation, featuring lighting and sound effects, and mechanical operation in close-up, helping them gain valuable insights into the behind-the-scene technological applications. Additionally, GEG also arranged students to visit the “In the Mind of Bruno Moinard”, as a special exhibition presented by GEG at GalaxyArt as part of Art Macao 2025.
Since its inception, the program has evolved to include increasingly rich and diverse content, connecting governmental departments, research institutions, and enterprises to offer cutting-edge technology training in areas such as artificial intelligence, engineering, biochemistry, and computer networks. Complemented by various experiential learning activities, these efforts have received highly positive feedback. In the current academic year, the program has expanded its enrolment and placed particular emphasis on enhancing AI-related training to strengthen students’ digital literacy and practical skills.
As one of the co-organizers, GEG has actively leveraged its resources to create opportunities for students to participate in community activities and related competitions, including providing training for students in designing tech-assisted devices through the “GEG Community Caring Program – Technology Care Innovation Design Competition” last year, and inviting students who participated in the F1 in Schools STEM competition to watch the races during the Macau Grand Prix, and join the “Macau’s Karting History” book launch and sharing session with professional drivers. Through these multifaceted initiatives, GEG hopes to support students in enhancing their technological knowledge.
