GEG recently collaborated with its Music Partner, Macao Orchestra, and Green Partner, Green Future, to host the “GEG Rhythms of Nature Family Workshop” at GEG’s revitalization project, the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards area.
EcoEducation Meets Family Fun
GEG recently partnered with its Music Partner, Macao Orchestra, and its Green Partner, Green Future, to present the “GEG Rhythms of Nature Family Workshop” at the revitalized Lai Chi Vun Shipyards.
Open to 30 family groups (around 70 participants), the fullcapacity workshop combined environmental awareness with handson music activities, setting the stage for the upcoming BBC “Seven Worlds, One Planet Live in Concert” on July 12 at the Broadway Theatre at Broadway Macau.
Guided Eco Tour & Sustainable Design
An environmental educator led families through the Shipyards’ green features: natural ventilation systems, vertical greening, ecofriendly materials (recycled wood, repurposed rubber), and the adjacent mangrove habitat.
These elements allow participants to appreciate the shipyards’ value from an ecological, environmental, cultural, and historical perspective.
Upcycled InstrumentMaking & Interactive Percussion
Using recycled staff uniforms and chopsticks, children and parents crafted shaker tubes and mini drums, learning upcycling techniques.
Seated in the Shipyards’ stepped performance area—built from recycled wood—they then enjoyed a percussion showcase by Macao Orchestra musicians, who creatively played household items.
The session culminated in a lively jam, inviting families to perform alongside professionals.
GEG’s Ongoing Environmental Initiatives

Its hotels have earned multiple Macau Green Hotel Awards from the SAR Government’s Environmental Protection Bureau.
