Sands China Presents ‘Concert of Love in Seoul’ Valentine’s Day Weekend

Sands China Ltd. hosted the ‘Concert of Love in Seoul’ on Feb. 15 at The Venetian Theatre, in collaboration with the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Macao Orchestra. Featuring the Macao Orchestra and renowned South Korean musicians, the event highlighted Macao’s cultural diversity as a Culture City of East Asia, captivating audiences with the charm of classical music.

Three renowned musicians from South Korea perform alongside the Macao Orchestra Feb. 15 at the Concert of Love in Seoul at The Venetian Theatre, co-organised by Sands China Ltd. in collaboration with the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Macao Orchestra.

As part of the Sands China Performing Arts Programme, the concert brought world-class talent to Macao, reinforcing its growing cultural scene. The event featured performances by the Macao Orchestra alongside three celebrated South Korean musicians:

  • Flutist Jasmine Choi, lauded as “The Goddess of Flute” and recognized by Sinfini Magazineas “one of the best flutists in the history of music.”
  • Conductor Sunwook Kim, the youngest and first Asian winner of the Leeds International Piano Competition.
  • Soprano Lee Myung-Joo, who recently debuted as the title role in Madama Butterflyat Opéra de Québec.

The evening featured a compelling selection of classical pieces, including Puccini’s arias, Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet” Fantasy Overture, and a debut rendition of “Butterfly Lover” by Choi, which reimagines the legendary Chinese folktale.

The performance concluded with “Arirang,” a traditional Korean folk song, paying tribute to Choi’s heritage.

To extend the cultural impact, Sands China hosted a “Meeting with the Artist – Jasmine Choi” event on Feb. 16, inviting 140 local wind instrument enthusiasts, students, and musicians to experience her artistry up close.

Choi provided insights into her career and performance techniques during the session, fostering cultural exchange and musical appreciation.
