(In English) “IX Encontro de Pontos de Rede de Ensino de PLE na Ásia 2024” Technological Advances in PLE Teaching and Learning: Strategies, Challenges, and Pedagogical Perspectives, from November 22 to 23.
As defined in previous editions, EPR2024 proposes, from an essential workshop perspective, based on concrete experiences in the different contexts present to reflect on approaches to teaching language and culture, favoring the sharing of materials and the development of joint projects between participants.
“We seek, to deepen the research work that has been carried out at an international level in various areas linked to the Portuguese language and the cultures of Portuguese-speaking countries and regions and to reinforce the role of Macao SAR in carrying out the pedagogical and scientific dynamics of teaching the Portuguese language,” says IPOR.
The ninth edition of the EPR, under the theme Technological advances in PLE teaching-learning: strategies, challenges, and pedagogical perspectives, will take into account, on one hand, the development of new information and communication technologies, as well as recent advances in the area of artificial intelligence that provide new possibilities for language teaching.
On the other hand, its influence on education and the way it is taught and learned and how this contributes to the intellectual, linguistic, and sociocultural development of students.
Within the scope of the EPR2024 theme, IPOR invited Professor António Branco, General Director of PORTULAN CLARIN Research Infrastructure for the Science and Technology of Language and researcher at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon,
A specialist, who has focused his research in the area of Artificial Intelligence, in particular, in Natural Language Processing, with a focus on the technological preparation of the Portuguese language for the digital era, which will open the communications panel on the first day of the Meeting.
The International Institute of the Portuguese Language is also associated with this year’s edition of the Meeting, through the organization’s institutional support for the event and the presence of its Executive Director, Dr. João Neves, speaking at the plenary session.
The 2024 edition will also be marked by the presence of the President of Camões I.P, Ambassador Florbela Paraíba and Portuguese readers and teachers from Rede Camões placed in Universities in the Asia-Pacific region under cooperation protocols.
The forum, which will take place between the 22nd and 23rd of November, will include 3 areas of discussion, in a total of 12 face-to-face and online communications, with the participation of speakers from higher and non-higher education institutions from countries such as Portugal, China, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Brazil.
The closing session will feature a presentation of projects from the Engineering Research Center for Technology Applied to Machine Translation and Artificial Intelligence of the Macau Polytechnic University.
