Angolan activist threatened with death missing eight months ago

Two days after being among the leaders of a demonstration against unemployment in Cazenga, Afonso Manuel Mpanzo mysteriously disappeared in October last year. According to his wife, he was suffering death threats by telephone


A group of young people, on the morning of 16 October 2019, under the leadership of Afonso Manuel Mpanzo and others, decided to speak out against the high unemployment rate that is registered in the country, since during the MPLA election campaign, for the term of President João Lourenço, Angolan citizens were promised 500 thousand jobs for youth.

In a peaceful way, Afonso decided to come together to make society remember the breach of that electoral promise and to pressure the Government to solve the unemployment problem.
