The unprovoked attack occurred while the officer was conducting field inquiries. The suspects reportedly surrounded and beat him, snatching his phone – valued at 4,500 patacas – before fleeing immediately after he identified himself as a police officer.

The investigator sustained neck and hand injuries but did not require hospitalization. The stolen phone was later recovered near the scene, though it had been damaged.

According to TDM, the PJ intercepted nine men across Taipa and Coloane shortly after the incident, confirming that seven were directly involved.

The men have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office and face charges of robbery, offences against physical integrity, and property damage.
