Conor McGregor appears to have found an unlikely reason to start drinking again, and he’s crediting Brad Pitt for the decision.
The former UFC two-division champion revealed he has chosen to return to alcohol after learning that Pitt recently ended his own seven-year stretch of sobriety. McGregor had previously pledged to avoid alcohol and other stimulants while preparing for his long-awaited comeback fight against Max Holloway at UFC 329, a return that lasted just 69 seconds before a serious knee injury forced him out of the bout.
Following the fight, McGregor underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL and meniscus and had said he intended to stay sober throughout his recovery. That plan now appears to have shifted.

Pitt recently told Esquire that he had resumed drinking, though in a more measured way, after years without alcohol. The actor acknowledged the adjustment hasn’t been entirely simple but said he’s learning to keep his consumption in check.
McGregor picked up on the news and decided to follow suit. “I have decided to have a few pints of ‘The World’s Creamiest Stout @forgedirishstout’ in support of my fellow actor, Brad Pitt!” McGregor wrote on social media, adding a direct message to the actor: “Take it easy, Brad!”
McGregor also noted that his Forged Irish Stout contains 4.2% alcohol, calling it a “sociable and friendly delicious beverage” while encouraging fans to drink responsibly.
