An explosion at the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands killed at least one person and left several others injured on Thursday, prompting an immediate investigation by local emergency services and law enforcement.
The blast occurred during late Thursday morning within the industrial expanse of Europe’s largest seaport. Following the incident, emergency responders established a crime scene to investigate the cause of the explosion.

The blast coincided with a major electrical power failure across portions of the port, linked to a transformer fire that broke out under undetermined circumstances. Authorities confirmed that power restoration efforts were underway and that electricity was gradually returning to impacted businesses within the industrial corridor.
Emergency response teams and fire crews remained on standby across the area, which houses numerous oil, chemical, and gas processing facilities.
