Between Monday and Thursday, Xia Baolong, director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council’s Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, conducted an official inspection of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and Zhuhai municipality.
During the visit, Xia Baolong evaluated key infrastructure and technological advancements in the region. He toured the Macau International Airport Hengqin Forward Cargo Terminal, Qi Micro-Biology Technology Co., Ltd., and the Guangdong Institute of Intelligence Science and Technology.
The delegation also focused on local educational and cultural developments. Site visits included the first phase of the Macao-Hengqin International Education (University) City, the Institute for Advanced Study of the City University of Macau, the Innovation Research Institute of the Macau University of Science and Technology, and the Hengqin International Film and Television City.
Macau Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai participated in the Hengqin Cooperation Zone segment of the itinerary.

The delegation was accompanied by other senior officials, including Xu Qifang, executive deputy director of the central and state Hong Kong and Macao affairs offices, and Zheng Xincong, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR.
The high-level inspection highlights Beijing’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional, educational, and economic ties between Macau and the mainland through the Hengqin framework.
