Coinciding with the “ITTF Men’s and Women’s World Cup Macao 2025 Presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group” and with the support of event organizers, GEG invited year-four students from the University of Macau’s Department of Communication to Galaxy Arena to participate in the “World Cup Second Classroom” tour organized by the Organizing Committee, with aims to deepen students’ understanding of the professional media communication workflows involved in large- scale sport events.
On April 16, 2025, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) continued its commitment to nurturing Macau’s future leaders by inviting local university students to participate in the “World Cup Second Classroom” tour.
This initiative took place during the ITTF Men’s and Women’s World Cup Macao 2025 Presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, an international table tennis tournament hosted at the Galaxy Arena from April 14 for seven consecutive days.
Sanctioned by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), the event is organized by the Macau SAR Government’s Sports Bureau, GEG, the World Table Tennis Management Group Limited, and co-organized by the Macau Table Tennis General Association.
As part of the tour, 20 yearfour Communication students from the University of Macau, accompanied by Associate Professor Ms. Agnes Lam, Ms. Zhou Dao, ITTF Head of Media (Asia); Ms. Annie Loi, Assistant Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility, Public Relations at GEG; and Ms. Kam Leong, Assistant Vice President of Media Relations, Public Relations at GEG, were guided through various mediarelated areas within the Galaxy Arena.
With support from the Organizing Committee, students explored the professional media setup of a world-class sporting event, including the media seating, photography zones, press conference room, and media center.
Industry experts like Ms. Wang Peng, CMG Table Tennis TV Producer, and Mr. Allan Chong of Macao Daily News, offered insights into real-time workflows and behind-the-scenes operations.
Students also witnessed a captivating light show and had a chance to meet Chinese table tennis athlete Ms. Zhu Sibing, taking photos together to commemorate the moment.
One participant, Adrie Zhu, expressed appreciation for the experience, stating that the initiative provided a valuable learning opportunity beyond the classroom, offering a deeper understanding of media communication in the context of international sports and inspiring their future career goals.
This initiative aligns with GEG’s long-standing belief in giving back to the community by leveraging major events to create learning platforms for local youth.
Alongside the “Second Classroom” experience, GEG also arranged for students from the University of Macau’s Lui Che Woo College and Communication Department to attend live matches with GEG Volunteer Team members and visit official merchandise stores, fostering a strong connection with the sport and its cultural atmosphere.
By consistently integrating sports with education, GEG contributes to Macau’s “City of Sports” vision and supports the development of young talent through experiential learning and civic engagement.
The company remains committed to fostering sports exchange and inspiring the next generation of leaders in Macau.
