MGTO and Macao travel trade jointly promote Macao

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) actively promoted Macao’s tourism potential at the ASTINDO Travel Fair 2025, one of Indonesia’s largest consumer travel fairs. The event, held in Jakarta in February, saw MGTO setting up a 54-square-meter Macao Pavilion, designed to highlight the city’s cultural heritage, gastronomy, and leisure experiences.

Strengthening Macao’s presence in Southeast Asia

The travel fair, organized by the Indonesian Travel Agents Association (ASTINDO), gathered major travel destinations, airlines, and tourism operators. Having participated in past ASTINDO Travel Fairs in Jakarta and Surabaya, MGTO leveraged this year’s event to further raise Macao’s profile and attract visitors from Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

Showcasing Macao’s cultural and tourism appeal

With Macao Tourism Mascot MAK MAK as a central feature, the Macao Pavilion incorporated Portuguese tile patterns and stone pavement designs, reflecting the city’s Sino-Portuguese cultural heritage. The exhibit promoted Macao as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy and a World Heritage site, emphasizing its dynamic mix of events, food, and leisure attractions, showcasing Macao’s vibrant scene and charm of “tourism +”.

To engage attendees, MGTO hosted four interactive destination presentations, complemented by lion dance and Portuguese folk dance performances. In collaboration with participating tourism operators, the Office also facilitated the sale of Macao tourism products, encouraging Indonesian travelers to explore the city.

Strengthening industry collaboration

In a bid to enhance industry ties, MGTO and Air Macau invited 21 Indonesian travel trade delegates from Jakarta and Surabaya to visit Macao from January 6 to 9. The program included a trade networking session, bringing together 42 Macao-based tourism businesses and Indonesian operators to foster closer cooperation and expand tourism offerings.

Expanding marketing efforts in Asia

MGTO remains committed to tapping the potential of Southeast Asia through strategic promotional campaigns. Beyond travel fairs and destination presentations, the Office is arranging familiarization trips and supporting customized tourism products for different markets. In 2025, MGTO plans to expand marketing initiatives across Korea, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia, reinforcing Macao’s position as a premier travel destination.
