On February 25 and 27, the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), along with Macau’s tourism representatives, visited Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai, UAE, to promote Macau as an international tourism destination.

The seminar highlighted Macau’s diverse “tourism +” offerings to attract Middle Eastern visitors. In May, MGTO will participate in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), the region’s largest tourism fair, targeting high-end leisure and business travelers.

Strengthening “Tourism +” in the Middle East

MGTO Deputy Director Cheng Wai Tong, alongside the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and tourism enterprises, led the initiative to enhance collaboration between Macau and Middle Eastern tour operators.

Over 200 industry representatives participated in networking sessions to explore cooperation in tourism product development, marketing, conventions, and exhibitions, establishing a foundation for Macau’s expansion into the region.

Macau guide for Muslim travelers provides tourist information about the destination

Launch of Macau Muslim travel guide with halal options

As a global tourism hub, Macau continues to improve services for diverse visitors. In partnership with a Singapore-based Halal tourism consultancy, MGTO launched a Macau Muslim Travel Guide during the seminars.

Available in English and Arabic, the guide provides key travel tips, culinary culture insights, and recommended itineraries for Muslim visitors. Future translations into Chinese, Malay, and Indonesian will further support Macau’s efforts to enhance Halal-friendly facilities.

Expanding promotional efforts in the Middle East

MGTO has actively engaged with the Middle Eastern market through tourism fairs and promotional activities. In 2024, DST participated in three major events, including ATM and high-profile networking sessions for leisure and business travel operators.

These efforts successfully showcased Macau’s tourism resources and received positive feedback. This May, MGTO will again attend ATM to attract premium visitors.

Leveraging social media for greater reach

Beyond physical promotions, MGTO continues to engage Middle Eastern audiences through digital strategies, including Arabic-language advertising and collaborations with regional social media influencers.

These efforts highlight Macau’s attractions, cultural events, and diverse tourism offerings. MGTO will further strengthen its social media campaigns to boost Macau’s presence in the Middle East.

Following last year’s promotional efforts, this visit to Riyadh and Dubai reinforces Macau’s presence in the Middle East, attracting more visitors and industry partnerships. MGTO remains committed to international tourism promotion, expanding its global visitor base, and solidifying Macau’s status as a premier destination.
