Famed for his playful Lobster cartoon persona, Philip Colbert is showcasing his vibrant installations across several key locations in Macao. This event celebrates Colbert’s dynamic artistic style while weaving in Macao’s rich cultural and maritime traditions. With free access to all venues, Coastal Fantasia seamlessly blends contemporary art with cultural heritage, providing an engaging space for exploration, discovery, and reflection on Macao’s unique identity as an “East Meets West” city.

Hailed as the “godson of Andy Warhol,” Colbert is known for masterfully merging themes from art history with modern culture. Based in London and originally from Scotland, he has staged over 50 solo exhibitions worldwide, gaining acclaim in Europe and Asia. His works delve into the confluence of art, culture, and daily life, establishing him as a pivotal figure in the world of contemporary art.

“I became an artist when I became a lobster,” Colbert famously stated, highlighting the centrality of this alter ego to his artistic vision. Returning to Macao for his first solo exhibition, Colbert continues his legacy of showcasing art in cultural hubs such as Paris, Venice, and Tokyo.

As the leading operator of integrated resorts in Macao, Sands China actively fosters cultural enrichment through its initiatives. The Coastal Fantasia exhibition aligns with the company’s goal of enhancing Macao’s tourism offerings while highlighting its multicultural aspects. With the support of the Marine and Water Bureau, Municipal Affairs Bureau, Macao Government Tourism Office, Cultural Affairs Bureau, Public Security Police Force, the Macao Science Center, and other local organizations, the exhibition aims to integrate art with local heritage.
