Macau welcomed more than 3.4 million visitors in May 2026, marking a 3.4% increase compared to the same month last year, according to official data released today.
Out of the total 3,487,994 visitor arrivals, more than half (2,149,311) were same-day visitors, representing a 7.9% increase year-on-year, as detailed in a report by the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). Conversely, the number of overnight tourists dropped by 3% to 1,338,683 during the fifth month of the year.
The vast majority of visitors traveled from mainland China, increasing by 4.2% to reach 2,541,802. Arrivals from Taiwan surged by 18.9% to 93,701, while visitor numbers from Hong Kong dipped slightly by 0.4% to 618,341. International visitor arrivals—excluding mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan—grew by 0.8% year-on-year to total 234,150.

Accumulated data for the first five months of 2026 shows that Macau recorded 18,143,294 visitor arrivals between January and May, reflecting an 11.1% increase compared to the same period in 2025. During this five-month span, same-day visitors grew by 17.6% to 11,252,584, while overnight tourist arrivals increased by 2% to 6,890,710.
DSEC also highlighted that international visitor arrivals for the first five months reached 1.244.042, representing an 8.7% expansion compared to the previous year.
