New Tax Exemption Measures

Since July 1, Mainland China residents can transport goods purchased in Macau with a tax exemption up to 12,000 RMB. Additionally, they can buy tax-free products at duty-free shops at border checkpoints, up to 15,000 RMB.

Promotion and Publicity

MGTO has launched online and offline promotional actions to leverage the new measures. Promotions on social media platforms like WeChat, Weibo, Douyin, and Xiaohongshu have already reached over 522 million views. MGTO also collaborates with influencers and travel platforms such as Qunar, Ly.com, and Douyin, in addition to producing promotional videos shown at border checkpoints and on their official social media accounts.

Collaboration with the Tourism Industry

MGTO continues to promote the measures to tourism operators to boost consumption and benefit merchants and small and medium-sized enterprises. Seminars and workshops were held for over 3,000 participants in the first half of this year. Videos and educational materials from the “Macau Courtesy Campaign” were also produced to improve the quality of tourism services.
