Through its financial support plan, MGTO continues to encourage local associations to carry out diversified tourism activities or projects, with a view to boosting the community economy.
The activities highlighted in the month of September include “History of the Salesmen – the Sino-Portuguese culture”, “Encounter of Flavors on the Islands.Winter Gastronomy Fair”, ““Typeface of the city” – Community Tourism + Technology – Travel Deepening Local Culture”, and “Festival da Travessa do Armazém Velho 2023”, to celebrate the Mooncake Festival and the National Day of the People’s Republic of China with visitors and residents in different areas of the city being able to enjoy the elements of “ tourism +” while promoting the development of community tourism.
Puppet theater presents integration of Chinese and Portuguese cultures
In the form of puppet theater, “História dos Vendilhos – the Sino-Portuguese culture” will hold a total of 12 mobile theater sessions, on the 23rd and 24th of September at Casas-Museu da Taipa, on the 30th of September at Jardim of the City of Flowers in Taipa, and on October 1st at Largo Maia de Magalhães in Taipa.
The shows are scheduled for 2pm, 3:30pm and 5pm, lasting around 45 minutes each, and will introduce the public to history, cuisine and traditional tales of the fusion of Chinese and Portuguese cultures.

Mooncake Festival food fair promotes community economy
The “Meeting of Flavors on the Islands.Winter Gastronomy Fair” will take place from the 29th of September to the 1st of October, between 4:30 pm and 9:30 pm, at Largo Camões, in Taipa (square in front of the Pak Tai Temple), during three consecutive days. The program includes a gastronomy fair, shows and gastronomic production experiences between parents and children, with the participation of local traders, the launch of limited products and the offer of consumption coupons.
Tour via signs combined with technology
“Typeface of the city” – Community Tourism + Technology – Local Culture Deepening Trip” combines community tourism with technology.
The activity is supported by letters and characters, creating unique guided tour routes and workshop experiences, through narration about old stores with their own characteristics, handwritten advertising signs, Western buildings, stone tombstones in a foreign language, among others.
This makes it possible to search for and identify the path of Macau’s letter types and characters, in conjunction with augmented reality technology, allowing participants to experience and get to know the physiognomy of Macau in the past, the urban narratives behind it and its history and culture.
The activity will take place on the following days: September 30th; October 1, 14, 15, 28 and 29; November 11th, 12th, 25th and 26th; December 9th and 10th, in a total of 12 sessions, the tour being a full day, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, with the itinerary divided between the morning and afternoon.

Travessa do Armazém Velho Festival opens on September 30th
Between September 30th and October 29th, the “Festival da Travessa do Armazém Velho 2023”, under the theme “Different Times”, will take place in the area of Rua dos Ervanários and Armazém Velho, lasting one month. The program includes an exhibition of themed installations, experiences with interactive technologies, a themed fair and workshops.
Through the display of products from different generations, the festival will provide a communication and knowledge platform for those born in different eras as the theme of the event. At the same time, through the combination of tourism with technology, a mini-program of tourist tasks will be launched for the participation of visitors and consumers of different age groups.
