Brazilian Minister assures that relationship with Portugal “is normal

The minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil downplayed the diplomatic incident in Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s recent visit and assured that the Portuguese head of state will be at the ceremonies of the 200th anniversary of independence.

Luiz Eduardo Ramos, minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil, considered this Thursday that the relationship between the heads of state of Portugal and Brazil “is normal,” despite Bolsonaro having uninvited Marcelo to a lunch in Brasilia.

“The relationship [between heads of state of Portugal and Brazil] is normal. President Marcelo will be at the 200th anniversary of independence,” Luiz Eduardo Ramos claimed.

The president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, made it known by the media that he would not have the lunch with Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, scheduled for Monday in Brasilia, after the Portuguese head of state met with former Brazilian president Lula da Silva.
