Facebook confirmed on Wednesday (5) that it had removed from the page of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, a video considered “harmful disinformation” about the pandemic of COVID-19.
This is an interview for Fox News, where Trump says children are “almost immune” to the new coronavirus. “The video includes false claims that a group of people are immune to the disease, which represents a violation of our policies on disinformation,” a Facebook spokesman told AFP.
This is the first time that the social network has removed a post from the president’s page for “misinformation”, although it has deleted a post from its election campaign page for using a Nazi symbol.
Facebook removed the video as it faces pressure to prevent the spread of false information on the one hand and, on the other, is accused of censoring opinions. When asked about the decision of the social network, during a press conference at the White House, Trump defended himself: “I speak of becoming seriously ill. If you look at children, they can get rid of the coronavirus very easily. ”
