China laments “unfortunate” incident and joins international community in humanitarian aid

The international community is responding forcefully to the call for aid made by Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab Tuesday after two explosions in Beirut that claimed at least 100 deaths and more than 4,000 injuries.

China is one of those countries, having lamented the “unfortunate incident” and expressed solidarity, in addition to offering to help Lebanon, “within the possibilities” of Beijing.

According to Xinhua, Chinese President Xi Jinping today sent condolences to the victims in a message addressed to Michel Aoun, his Lebanese counterpart. In the same message, Xi Jinping revealed that he was “shocked” by the huge explosions, hoping for a “quick recovery” for the thousands of injured.
