The defense of Colombian Alex Saab, considered by the United States to be an iron man for Nicolás Maduro, intends to take the detention in Cape Verde to the International Court of Justice, having hired former Spanish judge Baltasar Garzón for this purpose.
Speaking to Lusa, lawyer José Manuel Pinto Monteiro, who leads the defense team in Cape Verde, explained that Baltasar Garzón will lead the process challenging the preventive detention for the purposes of extradition of Alex Saab, decreed by the Cape Verdean authorities, before that court, based in The Hague (Netherlands), also taking the case to the United Nations and the African Union.
