Shot in Maputo president of the Confederation of Economic Associations

The president of the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA), Agostinho Vuma, was shot today in Maputo, the Mozambican capital, and is hospitalized.

The leader of the main employers’ confederation of Mozambique was shot by strangers and is being assisted in the emergency department of Instituto do Coração.

At the door of the unit are gathered several businessmen awaiting information about the health status of Agostinho Vuma, who, they said, entered conscious.

The businessman was intercepted by two armed people at 3 pm (2 pm in Lisbon) in the building where he has his office, on Avenida Josina Machel, near downtown Maputo, said Leonel Muchina, a spokesman for the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) at a press conference.

He was hit with two shots and was immediately rescued, he said.
