Portuguese government denies to be “saving” Isabel dos Santos at Efacec

The Economy Minister defended today that the State is “saving a company” and not “the financiers and shareholders” of Efacec and that the amount of the indemnity will not be enough to pay off Isabel dos Santos’ debt.

“We are saving a company, we are not saving financiers and shareholders”, stressed the Minister of State, Economy and Digital Transition, who is being heard this morning at a regimental hearing of the Commission for Economy, Innovation, Public Works and Housing, in the Assembly of the Republic, referring to the nationalization of Efacec, approved by the Council of Ministers last Thursday.

“The debts that the shareholder contracted to finance the company remain with it [shareholder]. […] The amount of compensation that will result from the assessment that we are going to grant will not be enough to pay off this debt ”, added the government official.
