Liverpool will create a permanent memorial to remember the Portuguese Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, who died almost a year ago in a traffic accident, the English football league club announced today. In a statement, the ‘reds’ say that the statue will be called ‘Forever 20,’ in reference to the jersey number used by the Portuguese international at the club.
“At the center will be a heart, in recognition of Diogo’s iconic celebration, which when viewed from different angles also reveals the numbers 20 and 30, which adorned the back of the brothers’ jerseys,” reads the statement from Liverpool, which has already retired the number 20 shirt.
The sculpture will be placed on 97 Avenue, where the current memorial to the two Portuguese footballers is located, and will also feature the lyrics of the song dedicated to Diogo Jota, which continues to be chanted by Liverpool fans at the 20th minute of every match.

On July 3, the Portuguese forward, 28 years old and playing for the English side Liverpool, and his brother André Silva, 25, who played for Penafiel, died in a traffic accident on the A52 in Cernadilla, Zamora, Spain.
Since Jota’s passing, the ‘reds’ have been raising money through their foundation destined to create youth football programs in the name of the Portuguese player and his brother. Jota made 182 appearances and scored 65 goals for Liverpool, having won one league title, one FA Cup, and one English League Cup.
