Sporting CP drew level with Benfica for second place in the Portuguese football league today after a commanding 5-1 home victory over Vitória de Guimarães in the final match of the 32nd round.
The Lisbon giants established a dominant lead before the break, heading into halftime with a 3-0 advantage thanks to goals from Gonçalo Inácio in the 9th minute, Daniel Bragança in the 23rd, and Maxi Araújo during first-half stoppage time.

The second half saw Sporting maintain their clinical edge, with Luis Suárez finding the net in the 61st minute and Luís Guilherme adding a fifth in the 74th. Vitória de Guimarães managed a consolation goal in the 85th minute following an own goal by Debast.
With this result, the Alvalade side moves to 76 points, matching Benfica’s tally. Despite being level on points, Benfica maintains the edge in the standings due to their advantage in the head-to-head record. Meanwhile, Vitória de Guimarães remains in eighth place with 42 points as the league enters its final stretch.
