Before today’s announcement, Tai Kin Ip had submitted his resignation to the Chief Executive, citing personal reasons.

In a public statement issued on the same day, he expressed his gratitude to the Central Government and the Chief Executive for their trust and support during his tenure. He also thanked all civil servants within the economic and financial sectors for their dedication and cooperation.

Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai expressed his sincere gratitude to Tai Kin Ip for his efforts and contributions to the SAR’s development. The Chief Executive highlighted that since the current administration took office, Tai Kin Ip had successfully led his team to implement the government’s policy vision, driving new progress in the economic and financial spheres.

The SAR government is currently processing the nomination for the new Secretary for Economy and Finance, which will be submitted to the Central Government for official appointment in due course. Until the new secretary is sworn in, the Chief Executive will exercise all statutory powers and functions of the office.
