The Macau International Tourism Expo concluded after three days of activities marked by the signing of around 60 cooperation agreements and the debut of pavilions dedicated to tourism technology and the low-altitude economy.
The 14th edition of the event took place from April 10 to 12 at the Venetian Macau hotel-casino and brought together more than 700 exhibitors from domestic and international markets, including nine from Portuguese-speaking countries.
According to organizers, nearly 120 institutions and associations linked to culture and tourism participated in the signing ceremony held on Saturday, covering areas such as global tourism expansion, the digital and smart industry, the integration of medicine and tourism, and the Belt and Road Initiative.
The Belt and Road Initiative, launched by China in 2013, is a global infrastructure and economic cooperation project.

One of the highlights of the expo was the “Tourism Technology Pavilion,” which gathered companies such as AutoNavi, iFlytek, and Macau Telecommunications Company (CTM), showcasing technology products and services applied to the sector.
The “Low-Altitude Economy Pavilion” also made its debut, featuring companies such as Chinese drone giant DJI and aircraft firm EHang, presenting solutions for urban air mobility and low-altitude tourism.
The low-altitude economy is an emerging sector focused on the use of manned and unmanned civil aircraft operating at altitudes between 1,000 and 3,000 meters.
The expo also showcased digital tools for the tourism industry, including a smart 3D navigation system to guide visitors around Macau.
At the opening of the event, Macau’s Secretary for Economy and Finance, Tai Kin Ip, said that amid “uncertainties in the international situation and geopolitics,” Macau hopes to diversify the origin of its tourists.
Macau tourism authorities also said they are considering covering transport costs for international tourists landing at Guangzhou airport in southern China to travel to the territory.
