Mohamed Salah has signed a two-year contract with Trabzonspor, with the Egyptian forward set to earn €17 million a season under the deal, the Turkish club announced Thursday.
The announcement came as Trabzonspor supporters gathered at the club’s stadium in the eastern Black Sea city for a ceremony celebrating the former Liverpool star’s free transfer signing. Thousands of fans packed the stadium, waving club flags, holding torches and singing chants throughout the event.
“The last couple of days, it’s an experience I’ve never had in my life. I just want to thank every one of you for being here today. I am feeling so much love here I never expected that reception,” Salah, 34, told the crowd during the ceremony. “I am here to win, I wanna win something with this club because you showed me so much love. I appreciate that.”
According to the club’s statement to the Turkish stock exchange, Salah will also receive a 20% share of revenue from products sold under his name, along with conditional bonuses each season, though the club did not disclose how large those bonuses could be or what specific conditions they would be tied to.

Salah departed Liverpool this offseason after nine years with the club, during which he scored 257 goals in 442 appearances and won two Premier League titles as well as the Champions League. His production dropped off last season, and he found himself benched during Champions League matches, a situation that led to a public disagreement with then-Liverpool manager Arne Slot.
Salah began his European career at Swiss club Basel in 2012 before moving to Chelsea. He later spent time on loan at Fiorentina and Roma between 2015 and 2017 prior to joining Liverpool.
Trabzonspor, generally regarded as Turkey’s fourth-biggest club behind Istanbul rivals Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş, finished third in the Süper Lig last season, securing qualification for the Europa League playoff round. The club’s most recent domestic league title came in the 2021-22 season.
