Welsh footballer Aaron Ramsey has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 35, following the termination of his contract with Mexican club Pumas last November.
“This was not an easy decision. After much thought, I have decided to retire from football,” Ramsey said in a post on his social media.
Ramsey began his career at Cardiff City before moving to Arsenal, where he played 369 games, scored 64 goals, and provided 60 assists, winning three FA Cups, despite a career marked by injuries and physical setbacks.
He spent 11 years at Arsenal before joining Juventus, where he won a Serie A title and an Italian Cup over two seasons. Later, he had loan spells with Rangers, reaching a Europa League final, and with Nice.

Ramsey returned to Cardiff before moving to Pumas, playing his final professional match on 28 September last year.
Internationally, Ramsey is considered one of the greatest Welsh footballers, earning 86 caps and scoring 21 goals, and featuring in three major tournament finals, including Euro 2016, where Wales reached the semi-finals against Portugal, with Ramsey named in the tournament’s best XI.
He also represented Wales at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup, with his final international appearance on 9 September against Montenegro in the Nations League.
