Palmeiras, coached by Portuguese Abel Ferreira, extended their lead in the Brasileirão with a 2-1 victory at Bahia in the 10th round, marking their fifth consecutive win.
The Verdão took the lead through Colombian forward Jhon Arias (42’), but Bahia equalized in the second half with David Duarte (58’). The decisive goal came late, as Argentine Santiago Ramos scored an own goal (88’) off a corner, giving Palmeiras the victory.
This result puts Palmeiras five points clear at the top. Fluminense and São Paulo are now tied in second place with 20 points, after Fluminense drew 1-1 at Coritiba. Flamengo, coached by Leonardo Jardim, and Bahia occupy fourth and fifth positions, eight points behind but with one game in hand.
