Khatib’s killing comes after Israel had already killed Iranian security chief Ali Larijani and the head of the Basij paramilitary volunteer force linked to the Revolutionary Guard, Gholamreza Soleimani. At the start of the war on February 28, US and Israeli allied forces also killed former supreme leader ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
