Zheng pointed out that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has set new strategic goals for China’s development under the 15th Five-Year Plan, stressing the need to uphold “One Country, Two Systems,” “Macao people governing Macao,” and a high degree of autonomy to ensure Macao’s lasting prosperity and stability.
He also noted President Xi Jinping’s recent recognition of Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai’s leadership and his guidance for Macao to proactively align with national development strategies.
Zheng reaffirmed his confidence in Macao’s future development.
Looking ahead, he expressed belief that the Macao SAR Government will unite society to focus on economic growth, infrastructure development, and improving residents’ livelihoods, while promoting moderate economic diversification, achieving new progress in the Hengqin Cooperation Zone, further enhancing governance, and safeguarding national and social stability—striving for an even better and more prosperous Macao.
He conveyed confidence that Macao will demonstrate dynamism, strive forward “without stop” and play a leading role in contributing to the nation’s development, actively participating in national strategies such as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Belt and Road Initiative, attracting global talent, and further strengthening its roles as “one centre, one platform, and one base.”
Zheng also stated his expectation that Macao will set new benchmarks in the practice of “One Country, Two Systems.” He believes the SAR Government will continue to foster unity, uphold executive-led governance, promote positive executive-legislative interaction, and further cultivate patriotic forces—jointly advancing Macao’s sustainable and high-quality development.
Concluding, Zheng cited the adage: “As spring brings hope, now is the time for hard work,” calling on all to “adhere to President Xi Jinping’s guidance, take dreams as horses, and move forward hand in hand to write new chapters of success for ‘One Country, Two Systems’ with Macao characteristics.”
