
A press conference Wednesday at The Londoner Macao announces the return of the Sands China Ltd. Macau Open Badminton tournament, co-organised with the Badminton Federation of Macau (BFM). The event will be held at the Macao East Asian Games Dome July 29-August 3, with the support of the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government.

Returning for its second year, the Sands China Ltd. Macau Open Badminton Tournament, as part of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300, runs July 29 – August 3 at the Macao East Asian Games Dome, supported by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government.
Coorganised by Sands China Ltd. and the Badminton Federation of Macau (BFM), the event offers earlybird ticket discounts for residents to foster sports in the community.
Competition Details & Global Field
The tournament features five categories: Men’s and Women’s Singles, Men’s and Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles, with US $370,000 (≈ MOP 3 million) in total prize money.
This year’s field includes 442 elite athletes from 29 nations, with 269 qualifiers such as Olympian Chen Yufei, worldranked doubles pairs from Indonesia and Malaysia, and Denmark’s top mixed doubles specialists.
Local talent is represented by six qualifiers including Pui Pang Fong and Ng Weng Chi.

Community Integration & Inclusivity
As a corporate social responsibility initiative, Sands China will host community events inviting tertiary and school students, past BFM competitors, and local athletes with disabilities to engage with former national champion Cai Yun.
Furthering regional ties, participants from the 2025 HengqinMacao Cup mixed team tournament will attend, strengthening crossborder sports and cultural exchange.

Dr. Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd., highlighted the event’s role in attracting youth during summer vacation, enhancing Macau’s international sports profile, and supporting socioeconomic growth. He noted that the 2025 tournament builds on last year’s success by elevating “tourism + sports” synergy and showcasing Macau on the global stage.
