In 2024, Sands China further solidified its leadership in responsible gaming by earning the “Responsible Gaming Implementation Model Unit” qualification for all five properties—three years in a row for Sands Macao—through the Macao SAR government’s Indicators programme.
Philanthropic Support & Donations
Sands China contributed MOP 1 million to five local NGOs, bringing its total responsible gaming donations to over MOP 8.9 million since 2006.
Funds underwrote workshops, roadshows, and public education campaigns designed to inform both team members and residents about healthy gaming habits.

Sands China’s responsible gaming team conducted 70 training sessions in 2024, comprising over 6,000 hours of training. These sessions provided team members with essential knowledge of responsible gaming principles and practices, ensuring that all team members can effectively assist guests in need.
Back of House Roadshows
Sands China conducted 52 roadshows that engaged more than 37,000 team members, featuring themed activities—from Traditional Chinese Medicine demos to candle-making—to illustrate how responsible gaming principles integrate into everyday life and workplace culture.
Comprehensive Training Initiatives
- 70 sessions totaling 6,000+ training hours equipped staff with the tools to identify and assist at-risk guests.
- Through the Responsible Gaming Ambassador Advanced Training (in partnership with University of Nevada, Las Vegas), nearly 650 ambassadors earned certificates and pins by studying global case studies and intervention techniques.
- The RG 360 – Macao Responsible Gaming Specialist Ambassador Course (in collaboration with the University of Macau) saw 21 ambassadors deepen their localcontent expertise in spotting and managing wagering risks.
- 55 ambassadors participated in a cross-border tour at Hong Kong’s Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, gaining advanced insights into problemgambling prevention and stressrelief methods.

Sands China fully supports the Macao SAR government’s responsible gaming promotion policy and held a six-day responsible gaming photo exhibition and game booth event at The Venetian Macao to promote responsible gaming knowledge to the public and tourists, successfully attracting more than 75,000 participants.
Community & Online Outreach
Digital campaigns in 2024 included a slogan contest (with winning ideas slated for future use), minidocumentaries on Responsible Gaming Ambassadors, and interactive edugames that resonated with younger demographics.
At The Venetian Macao, a six-day photo exhibition and gamebooth event attracted 75,000+ visitors, and street interviews at tourist hotspots further amplified the responsible gaming message.
Family-focused carnivals and a ParentChild Responsible Gaming workshop drew 150+ participants, emphasizing youth financial literacy and healthy play.

Sands China’s Responsible Gaming Parent-Child Carnival drew over 150 team members, members of local NGOs, and their children. It focused on parent-child responsible gaming education, particularly in regard to financial management for youth.
Long-Term Commitment & Academy Structure
Since pioneering a self-exclusion programme in 2004 and formal training in 2007, Sands China has embedded responsible gaming within the Sands Responsible Gaming Academy, one of eight sub-academies of the Sands China Academy.
This platform partners with local and international universities to cultivate talent and uphold corporate social responsibility in Macao’s gaming industry.
