Macao Grand Prix Museum Collaborates with LEGO® HK to Present Special Exhibition

The Macao Grand Prix Museum announces its partnership with LEGO® HK for a special exhibition titled "Macao Grand Prix Museum x LEGO® Speed Racing." This collaboration marks the first time the Museum has joined forces with LEGO® HK to showcase a unique exhibition. As part of the exhibition, a 1:1 scale LEGO® model of a Formula 3 race car has been specially designed and built by LEGO® Certified Professional Andy Hung. The exhibit celebrates the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR.

The “Macao Grand Prix Museum x LEGO® Speed Racing” exhibition opened on April 24th and features a time-limited opportunity for museum visitors to build their own car models using LEGO® bricks. The opening ceremony was officiated by MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Deputy Director Ricky Hoi, Marketing Director of LEGO® Hong Kong & Taiwan Kelvin Cheng, and LEGO® Certified Professional Andy Hung.

The highlight of the exhibition is the 1:1 scale LEGO® model of a Formula 3 race car, meticulously built by Andy Hung. The model consists of over 300,000 LEGO® bricks and took approximately seven weeks to complete. The car, predominantly green in color, features a lotus pattern, symbolizing Macao, and the number 25 to represent the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR.

Due to transportation considerations, the LEGO® car model was constructed in over ten separate parts, which were later assembled at the Museum. The LEGO® Formula 3 car model will be on regular display at the Macao Grand Prix Museum, captivating LEGO® enthusiasts once again. Locals and visitors are encouraged to visit the museum and witness this special exhibit.

As part of the collaboration with LEGO® HK, the Museum invites visitors to build their own race car models using LEGO® bricks at the exhibition zone. They can then test their creations on a steep platform on-site. This interactive experience will be available from April 24 until August 31.

The exhibition aims to attract local and visiting museumgoers during the holidays, offering a vibrant and colorful travel experience in Macao. The exhibition aligns with the Macao SAR Government’s development strategy for economic diversification and the integration of “tourism + sports.”

During the exhibition period, visitors can obtain a coupon with each admission ticket purchased. The coupon can be redeemed for a free LEGO® set of “30343 McLaren Elva” at official LEGO® shops. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a 10% discount on any LEGO® set from the LEGO® Classic, City, Creator 3 in 1, Speed Champions, or Technic series. Limited quantities of the free sets are available in various varieties, while stock lasts.

Since its reopening in 2021, the Macao Grand Prix Museum has been dedicated to introducing new exhibits and interactive elements. The museum features attractions such as the Formula 3 simulator, motorcycle racing simulator, and augmented reality (AR) view. In collaboration with Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, the museum showcased wax figures of eight renowned racing drivers in 2023.

Furthermore, a partnership with PICO, an extended reality (XR) brand under the Douyin Group, led to the launch of the “VR 360° race replay” exhibit zone, providing visitors with an immersive virtual reality (VR) experience of the Macau Grand Prix. The debut of the 1:1 scale LEGO® Formula 3 race car model further enriches the museum’s offerings, promoting motorsport culture and the integration of “tourism + sports” in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR.
