Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated today that “the dawn of peace has emerged” but urged all participating parties to fully honor their newly made commitments following the first-phase preliminary peace accord between the United States and Iran.
During a phone call requested by his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi—occurring just days after Washington and Tehran publicized their historic diplomatic breakthrough—Wang indicated that China highly welcomes the preliminary memorandum of understanding.
According to an official statement released by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the veteran diplomat noted that recent fast-moving global events have clearly proven that dialogue and strategic negotiation represent “the correct path forward.”
The high-level conversation highlights Beijing’s ongoing effort to position itself as a key diplomatic stakeholder in the region while securing its own long-term energy and trade interests.

“The priority going forward is for all parties to deliver earnestly on their commitments and fend off disturbances from all sides,” Wang Yi emphasized to the Iranian diplomatic delegation during the bilateral phone briefing.
The Chinese foreign minister added that the highly contentious issue of commercial navigation through the strategic Strait of Hormuz must be “properly addressed” to answer the widespread concerns of the global community.
Araghchi briefed Wang on the operational progress regarding the implementation of the 14-point memorandum, which was successfully achieved after consecutive months of intensive mediation efforts spearheaded by Pakistan.
The Iranian foreign minister forcefully underlined that the preliminary text must be effectively implemented across all major geopolitical fronts, specifically “including Israel’s halt to military operations against Lebanon.”
