The Federal Justice of Espírito Santo determined, on the night of this third fair (25), the suspension of the operation of Telegram in Brazil. The decision of Judge Wellington Lopes da Silva, of the 1st Federal Court of Laws, was issued after the application not to provide information requested regarding neo-Nazist groups operating on Telegram.
Furthermore, Justiça fixed a daily fine of R$ 1 thousand for not sending two given orders or 5% of the invoice of the company in Brazil in 2022, or whichever is less. For the magistrate, “the facts demonstrated by the police authorities reveal Telegram’s evident purpose of not cooperating with the ongoing investigation.”
Investigation
Wellington Lopes da Silva had requested information about the users of an anti-Semitic channel and a chat room with the same theory, which propagated neo-Nazist concepts and symbols. The requested data includes the names of two users, two groups, CPF, profile photo, e-mail, address, registered bank data, among others. The information reviewed by Justiça, however, was considered insufficient.
“Despite the response within the term, the information provided does not comply with the judicial order. I know that the determination was for Telegram to send the data of ALL the members of the channel and of the chat group ”, reported the magistrate. The application had informed only some data and referring only to the administrator of one of two groups.
At the end of the afternoon of this fourth fair (26), no meanwhile, the instant messaging application was working normally.

The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, commented on the matter. For him, the performance of anti-Semitic groups is part of the structure of violence against children and adolescents in Brazil.
“The Federal Police asked the Judiciary to confirm that a social network that is not complying with the decisions, in the case or Telegram, has a fine of R$ 1 million per day and temporary suspension of activities, exactly because there are groups called Antisemitic Fronts or Movements Antisemites using these networks and we know that this is the basis of violence against our children and adolescents”.
