A BBC Ukraine journalist asked the Ukrainian President for a hug during a press conference on his visit to the United Kingdom.
The Ukrainian President is visiting the United Kingdom and, during a joint press conference with the British Prime Minister, Volodymyr Zelensky received an unusual question.
“Mr President, I would like to ask you to hug him, but I am not allowed”, said a BBC Ukraine journalist, before formulating the question.
Instantly, the Ukrainian leader replied “why not?” and went to the journalist to hug her. Back at the pulpit, he even joked about the situation, saying, “Security.”
The other journalists in the room applauded the moment and several, in their turn to ask questions, said that in the end they would also like to hug the Ukrainian President.
At the press conference itself, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak insisted that “nothing is excluded” in terms of supplying Ukraine with combat aircraft, but underlined that the priority was to strengthen anti-aircraft defense and long-range missiles.
“When it comes to the provision of military assistance to Ukraine, nothing is off the table,” said Sunak, at a joint press conference with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, after a visit to a military base in southern England where Ukrainian soldiers are being trained by the British armed forces.
The British head of government said that what he discussed with Zelensky is that “the most immediate needs are [systems of] anti-aircraft defense and long-range missiles”.
