The reason for the sudden shift in attention has a name: Victor Wembanyama. Born in Le Chesnay, also on the outskirts of the French capital, he is the son of a former long jumper, Felix Wembanyama, and Elodie de Fautereau, who was a professional basketball player – for the record, his father is 1.98 meters and the mother has 1.91 meters. The eldest sister, Eve, was the first to follow the legacy of basketball and won, in 2017, the under-16 European championship with France.
