EU encourages member states to impose Covid-19 tests on passengers arriving from China
The European Union (EU) today “strongly” encouraged Member States to impose tests for covid-19 before the departure of passengers from China, a measure that should be poorly received by Beijing and which has already been criticized by the aviation sector.
After a week of negotiations between EU health experts, an agreement was not reached for the 27 Member States to adopt restrictions, but other recommendations were decided that it will be up to each country to apply: the mandatory use of a mask for travelers from China , random tests on arrival or even the control of waste water from airports and planes coming from China.
China has already vehemently rejected these actions and warned of “countermeasures” should such policies be imposed across the bloc.
