Last Friday, the day that the scandal of the alleged illegal lobbying in the European Parliament in favor of Qatar broke out, the police found suitcases with money in Eva Kaili’s house. According to press reports, the MEP and vice-president of Parliament (meanwhile suspended) had “bags of tickets” in her possession.
A leading figure in this police soap opera, the same Kaili, in November, had surprised fellow MEPs with a speech proclaiming that “Qatar is a leader in labor rights”. Having arrived here, what was the journey of the beautiful Greek woman, 44 years old, who made her name on television before entering politics?
Kaili studied Architecture and Civil Engineering at the University of Thessaloniki. She continued her studies at the University of Piraeus, where she obtained a Master of Arts, leaving an unfinished Doctorate in International Economic Policy. Along the way as a student, she even chaired the Student Association.
